GNAT Teachers’ Fund Warns Members: Name Differences Could Affect Loans, Claims and Refunds
The GNAT Teachers’ Fund has issued an important notice to members over name differences in official records. The Fund says members must ensure that their names are the same across their Ghana Card, GES records, CAGD payroll records, payslips and Teachers’ Fund records.
According to the notice dated 13 July 2026, name differences can create problems during official transactions. As a result, members have been advised to check their records early and correct any discrepancies through the approved channels.
Why GNAT Teachers’ Fund Issued the Notice
The GNAT Teachers’ Fund explained that some members have different names on their identification documents and employment records. In some cases, the difference may be in spelling, name arrangement or the format used on the records.
For example, a member’s Ghana Card may show one arrangement of names while the payslip or Teachers’ Fund record shows another. Although the difference may look small, it can delay important transactions when the member needs support from the Fund.
Records Members Must Check
Members have been advised to verify their names across all major official records. These include Ghana Card or other valid identification documents, Ghana Education Service employment records, CAGD payroll records, payslips and GNAT Teachers’ Fund records.
In addition, members should check the spelling, order and format of their names carefully. This is important because official institutions usually rely on exact name matches before processing payments, claims or other services.
Loans, Claims and Refunds Could Be Affected
According to the GNAT Teachers’ Fund, name discrepancies may affect members when cashing Teachers’ Fund cheques. A member may face challenges at the bank if the name on the cheque does not match the name on the identification document presented.
Furthermore, the Fund stated that name differences could affect the processing of loans, contribution refunds, retirement claims, beneficiary claims and other official transactions. Therefore, members with name discrepancies may experience delays if they do not correct their records on time.
What Members Should Do If Their Names Are Different
Members who notice any difference in their names are advised to begin the correction process immediately. The notice directs affected members to submit a request through their Head of School or Management Unit.
After that, the request must pass through the District Education Directorate and the Regional Education Directorate. It will then be forwarded to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service for the necessary amendments to be made.
Teachers Advised to Act Early
The GNAT Teachers’ Fund has urged members to take the notice seriously. Correcting name differences early will help members avoid delays when applying for loans, claiming refunds or processing retirement and beneficiary benefits.
For this reason, teachers are encouraged to check their records now instead of waiting until they urgently need a service. Members should also inform colleagues who may not have seen the notice, especially those with different name arrangements on their Ghana Card, payslip and GES records.
Final Note
The GNAT Teachers’ Fund is asking members to ensure that their names are consistent across all official records. The Fund says name discrepancies could affect loans, claims, refunds, cheque payments and other transactions.
Members who find any difference should start the correction process through the approved GES channels. This will help ensure smooth access to Teachers’ Fund services when needed.
