According to the latest information available, all key approval stages have reportedly been completed after the marking of scripts for about 90,000 applicants.

This leaves the official release as the next major step, with many teachers across Ghana now watching closely.

Key Updates

Due to the merging of two batches, adjustments now ensure fairness and seniority:

  • Applicants with Notional Effective Date on or before 2020 will receive a new date of 1st September 2024, which qualifies them for the next promotion in 2028.
  • Applicants with Notional Effective Date on or before 2021 will receive a new date of 1st September 2025.
Salary Arrears

For now, the Substantive Date (the month from which salary adjustment arrears will be paid) for both batches is January 2026.

Next Promotion Window (2026)

Meanwhile, the next promotion exercise is expected as follows:

Portal opening: Tentatively August 2026
Exams: Scheduled for November 2026

Eligible officers include those currently on the ranks of:

Senior Superintendent I
Principal Superintendent (PS)
Assistant Director II (AD II)
Assistant Director I (AD I)

Promotion to Director II & Director I (A New Approach)

In addition, a major change now affects senior ranks.

For the first time, Ghana Education Service will conduct promotion to:

Director II
Director I

through an Aptitude Test, instead of the traditional interview-based system.

What Prospective Applicants Should Know

GES will open the portal to Deputy Directors and selected Director II officers
Officials will conduct exams in cohorts to capture all eligible candidates within a short period
Candidates should study the new aptitude test format introduced in December 2025, as a similar pattern is expected

Final Word

With marking completed, approval concluded, and all major processes reportedly finalized, the GES Promotion Results 2025 now appear to be at the final stage before release.

For thousands of teachers across Ghana who have waited patiently, this latest development is likely to bring renewed hope and anticipation. All eyes now turn to the official announcement, which could come at any moment from now.

  1. Teachers are already struggling with low salaries and we are appealing to government to consider all those who have passed. I think this a motivation for the teachers.

  2. Why always on qouter bases whiles in other services it doesn’t happens such as the security services.
Why GES?Is it a curse to be a teacher.

  3. Honestly speaking teachers are already suffering, I only appeal to government to make the necessary arrangements to upgrade all those who passed the exams successfully.

I think our leaders should check the way we write our promotion exams.Moving from one one place to the other place farther from our places is too serious. The leadership should consider one center within the district for all schools under d district to write their exams comfortably. My candid submission though
